Out of bounds plays are one of the most important facets of the game and yet are often made into one of the most overcomplicated facets of the game. In this video you will hear from one of the best in the game at out of bounds plays, Coach Zach Spiker. You will see how he develops efficient plays that are easy for players to remember and actions that are difficult to guard or scout.
In this video you will get:
- Formations
- Baseline OB series
- Sideline OB series
- Implementation plans
If you are ready to improve and efficiently run your out of bounds plays going forward, this is a must-have video for your coaching library!
Formations
Coach Spiker emphasizes the importance of team culture, knowing what you emphasize is what your players will gravitate towards, and how your players are the main catalysts for program success.
From there, Coach Spiker reviews a variety of popular baseline out of bounds formations. Once you decide on the formation that is best for your team, having a couple of ‘go to’ actions and wrinkles will keep your opponent guessing and your players will be consistently making good reads.
OB Under Series
You will then get to see three different formations that are Coach Spikers favorites and watch as he details the movements and reads for each one.
Spiker believes your plays should be unscoutable by formation and undetectable by play call. By using the same formation with automatics and audibles, the defense will never know what is coming next!
The Gold Series of plays from the baseline can be run against man or zone defense and gives you looks directly at the rim, slip opportunities, and three-point options.
Late Game Organization and Side OBs
It is important to be prepared for special late game situations before they happen!
Coach Spiker details a wrinkle out of their Black Series to illustrate how you do not have to change formations - just add something unexpected or to take advantage of the defense. Always having something ready to go will have your players confident and ready to perform.
Spiker explains how he uses a call sheet - similar to football - for multiple end of game scenarios by time, score, and location.
Spiker also shows how to incorporate your half court offense and actions into side out of bounds plays with three actions that will surely get you a bucket or at minimum a great look at the rim!
Be prepared for your baseline and sideline situations in the seasons ahead with this excellent video!
Customer Review: 5 Out of 5 Stars!
“Great insights and ideas for coaches to chew on. The actions were good and the wrinkles as well. The ‘food for thought’ part was the best part of the video in my opinion.”
