We all know the importance of ball and player movement for efficient offense and yet often it is a struggle to put it into practice. In this outstanding video, Coach Patrick Sellers discusses the methods he has developed to help players understand the concepts of ball movement within the flow of offense.

In this video you will get:

  • Transition drills
  • Concepts to teach extra passes
  • Offensive breakdown drills
  • Offensive actions
  • Ball screens

All of the concepts will be easily implemented and easy for players to visualize and understand. This video will get you on your way to high scoring and better shot selection this season!

Transition Offense
Coach Sellers discusses the importance of practicing fast if you want to play fast. His time at UConn as an assistant under Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun taught Coach Sellers his ‘staple’ fast break drills that have helped his team play faster in transition.

The Continuous 3-Man Kick Ahead drill will get players to push the tempo and the ball to hunt easy shots. Other variations of 3 on 2 and 2 on 1 drills are also shown and how they reinforce what Sellers teaches his players on offense.

Hitman and Moneyman Concepts
Next, you will get an in depth look at how Coach Sellers teaches ball movement with the hitman and moneyman concepts. These concepts will help to eliminate double drives and improve offensive spacing. The drills shown to reinforce the concepts build up from 2 on 0 to 3 on 0 and 4 on 0 working different scenarios and actions that will keep your team unscoutable!

Playing fast will never happen unless you secure the rebound! You will see how to add an offensive rebound to the build up drills to get players attacking the boards.

Offensive Actions
The first objective is to gain an on-ball advantage then flow into the hitman and moneyman concepts. Sometimes you need something a little extra to get things going.

In this segment of the video Coach Sellers teaches the Mayday, Pistol Mayday, and ball screen to help keep things moving and seek out the offensive advantage. Multiple actions to run in the half court such as, double staggers, pin downs, as well as the popular Spain action are also outlined and demonstrated.

You can never undervalue ball movement! This video is concise, easy to understand, and full of creative ways to teach it to players and turn your team into a game that your opponent’s circle on their calendars!
