West Michigan Aviation Academy Boys Basketball Head Coach;

over 100 high school coaching victoriesInnovative basketball coach Tyler Whitcomb, known for his innovative offenses and defenses, is back with another detailed offense video with his detailed presentation on The Scissors Offense. In this video you will learn an offense that creates movement, scoring opportunities, and gets all 5 players involved.
In this video you will get:
- The basic set up and rules
- Options for every possible entry
- Double ball screen actions
- Quick hitters
Basic Setup
To begin the video, Coach Whitcomb gives you the basics you will need to teach this offense to your players, including how to enter the offense and each option that follows each specific entry.
The main idea is to get the ball to the post at the free throw line. From there, the scissor action for which the offense is named, begins. Just from this simple action, several scoring opportunities are shown. You can get an iso for a mobile or quick post player, high low looks, dribble handoffs, and guard post ups. Each one is shown first against no defense, then run live. As you watch you will see many other options that can be added and different wrinkles that you can make for your team’s personnel.
Options and Quick Hitters
In this segment of the video, Coach Whitcomb continues to show options and ways to score out of the offense. If defenses take away the reversal pass, the post has an option to turn it into a DHO. Next, the corner option is detailed, where if the ball is passed there the offense will continue uninterrupted. No matter what option is taken you will be able to easily flow back into the continuity of the offense.
The double ball screen, or Texas, is one of Coach Whitcomb’s favorites in this offense. This quick hitter will open up the floor with multiple ways to score and will put defenses on their heels. The Ram Action is another double ball screen with a tweak to keep defenses honest and will also get you a three-point shot. To also keep things fresh, and to enter the offense in a different way, the UCLA Action will not only accomplish this but provide a quick scoring opportunity with a down screen rescreen. This offense also fits easily into the Four Corner delay offense. This is shown briefly to get the idea of how this can work and how versatile the scissors offense can be. To end the video three actions within the offense are shown that are sure to put points up on the board for your team!
If you are looking for a nice continuity offense to add to your playbook, this is it. Not only that, but you will get several quick hitting plays that will give you the complete offensive package!
