Darris Nichols takes the floor to provide team shooting drills that create a winning atmosphere on the practice floor and transfer over to game day! Coach Nichols gives a toolbox of team drills that you can use this season in order to build team communication, fundamentals, and overall accountability. Each drill incorporates a competitive aspect, while also including a conditioning element as well.
Everyday Team Warm-Up Drills (Peer Evaluation Drills)
Coach Nichols showcases a series of warm-up drills that can also be useful to help your players evaluate each other. All of these drills focus on the fundamentals of dribbling, catching, screening, and use of pivoting. You'll see:
- Oregon Passing - An every other day drill for cutting and passing.
- 3 Man Rush - Works on pitching the ball ahead to focus on passing and catching in transition.
- 5-on-5 Full Court No Dribble - Focuses on saving your bounce and catching/rebounding with two hands.
Team Shooting Drills
Nichols' team shooting drills emphasize fundamentals in passing, catching, and shooting. He sets team goals for each drill to create a competitive atmosphere. Players often have to make a certain amount of shots before a miss, which creates a focused team environment. Additionally, you will learn drills that allow you to identify which shooters on your roster deserve a "green light" in crucial situations.
