This video featuring Louisville head coach Chris Mack is a detailed and comprehensive resource on how to coach a pace and space offense. You'll discover how to transition into a fast, physical and connected offense from the moment your team gets the rebound. Coach Mack's emphasis is on teaching players how to play, rather than set plays.
Transition Offense
Mack shows how to force the pace off of both made and missed baskets in an attacking transition offense designed to keep continued pressure on your opponents. You will learn the following key tactics for attacking in transition:
- How to maximize the skill set of your big man in transition
- How to define and assign roles to take advantage of player strengths
- Multiple ways to flow seamlessly into the secondary break
By utilizing interchangeable position players, Coach Mack shows how to construct an offense that allows players freedom to create and attack the basket. Several basic actions are covered so that players can build their skills at reading and reacting to a variety of different coverages, making your team both harder to guard and difficult to scout.
Offensive Actions
There are a wide variety of actions covered, including stagger ball screens, weak-side screens, ghost cuts and brush cuts. By combining these actions, Mack shows how you can use component pieces to build a flexible, effective offense. You will also see how to set up and exploit both single and double ball screens to create more space for driving the ball, more open 3-point looks, and ways to increase your team's chances of winning the free throw battle.
Unique to this video, Coach Mack also addresses how to disguise actions and sets so you will be able to run a basic offensive package that is scout-resistant.
Covering almost every angle and detail of pace and space offense, this presentation from Coach Mack is a gold mine of man-to-man offensive tactics that you can implement with your team immediately!
